What's fish leather?

Fish leather is tanned and produced from fish skin.
Beautiful scales of fish are characteristic, and other animals have a completely different attraction.
I'm often asked, "Is it fishy and brittle?"
However, fish leather overturns that imagination.
Even though it is called fish, it does not have a fishy smell at all, and has the same unique leather scent as cowhide.
Furthermore, the fibers unique to fish have a cross-hatch structure, making them so strong that you wouldn't imagine from the thin skin of the fish.
Although production is still small worldwide, in recent years it has been attracting attention as a new eco-leather, unlike cowhide and other products.
In Japan, the material has a long history, and there are still many documents that have been found in which Ainu people have processed salmon skin into shoes and clothes since ancient times.
The important process when making fish leather is "tanning."
